The Kerem Tunnel allows for a unique hiking and riding experience.
The Kerem Tunnel is the first bike tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was inaugurated as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle path that runs around Jerusalem, the capital city.

The tunnel connects Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. It is located in southern Israel in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the nearest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was officially inaugurated during a celebration held on Thursday that was attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov as well as hundreds of cyclists.

Jerusalem was a sought-after tourist destination because of its glorious history. Elkin explained that the modern tourist industry is a part of Jerusalem's historical treasures and is also a part of modern-day tourism.  נווה פריצקי "The inauguration of [this] tunnel project is another part of the expansion of Jerusalem as a city. Elkin, whose ministry was responsible for the project, along with Jerusalem Municipality stated that his ministry has invested hundreds of millions of shekels every year in Jerusalem's tourist development and also in the creation of new attractions and ventures that connect the stunning historic past with the the future of Jerusalem. Elkin's Ministry and the Tourism Ministry budgeted the project.

Elkin stated, "The Kerem Tunnel project is a key instrument in achieving our goal to change the way transportation is conducted in Jerusalem." Elkin stated that the new tunnel is connected to the Jerusalem Ring Path and will join existing bike paths. The tunnel will also be paved in its different neighborhoods. It will also increase cycling and encourage green transportation in the capital.

The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to transfer the main sewer line toward the Sorek purification plant.

In order to make the tunnel accessible to the public year-round The works comprise road construction as well as the installation of blowers.

The Kerem Tunnel provides access to unique recreation locations, including Ein Kerem neighbourhood, the Biblical aquarium and zoo as also the historical natural springs Ein Haniyeh, Ein Laban Ein Laban, and Ein Haniyeh.
